Listen to what your customer means more than just hearing the words they say. For example someone might say: I want to fit in these pants, but what they are really saying is, I need to lose some weight. You have to determine what action your customer is planning to take by what they tell you.

To everything people say there is a reason behind it. As a great salesperson you have to find out that reason. You have to understand why customers will ask certain questions. This way you can be more prepared for the next thing you are going to say. You will also understand your client better. Don’t you relate to somebody more when they take the time to figure out what you want? The same goes for you and your customers.

This is easier when you are selling to someone in person. You can monitor their behavior and watch their expressions. Watching your clients hand gestures is also a good way to find out what they really mean. People generally use hand gestures to pernunciate words or show emotion. Think about it, when you are trying to explain something but you beat around the bush don’t you use hand gestures?

When you are selling over the phone you have to give your customer 100% of your attention. This way you will not miss anything they say and mean. You also have to ask why. Clarify everything and repeat back what they said and make sure you have the right idea. “So you’re saying….., right?

How Do Car Insurance Companies Calculate the Rates They Charge?

Depending on your jurisdiction, the insurance premium you pay, can be either set by the government or determined by individual insurance companies, based on a framework of regulations that are set by the government.

Figuring out the insurance premium that an individual companies will charge you, is a bit like putting different pieces of a puzzle together, because car insurance companies combine a number of different elements to arrive at your individual premium. The interesting part of it is that they all have a slightly different way of looking at things, and this produces a variation in prices between companies.

The following is a brief explanation of how the different elements may affect your final insurance rate:

What kind of car do you drive?

Car insurance companies have two basic methods of establishing premiums for your automobile. They use the relative claims experience of the makes and models of automobiles to establish your insurance premium. This means that they will check into the repair costs, the rate of injury, and the likelihood that the particular car may be stolen, to establish their risk and then price it accordingly. The current value of your vehicle is another factor, and insurance companies use a variety of methods to establish the current fair market value of your vehicle.

How is your vehicle used?

It stands to reason, the more you use your auto, the higher the odds that you’ll of be involved in an automobile accident at some time. So, all other factors being equal, people who don’t do much driving tend to pay much lower premiums than than those that have a long commute to work, or do extensive amounts of driving for other reasons. Also of major importance, is who is using the vehicle.
Your automobile insurance premium costs will also likely be higher if you have inexperienced drivers in your family or a number of different drivers using the car.

Where do you live?

Car insurance rates are generally higher in metropolitan areas. Cities with their considerably higher density of traffic and people, mean that there is a higher likelihood of accidents, theft or vandalism claims.

What’s your driving record?

Your driving record is based on the number of years you’ve been licensed to drive, your previous insurance experience, and the number of at-fault accidents (usually up to the last 6 years but sometimes even longer.) If you drive safely and defensively to avoid convictions and at-fault accidents, your premium will be lower than if you’ve had a conviction or accident. In a nutshell, the better your driving record, the lower your insurance rates.

What optional coverage limits and deductibles do you choose?

When you purchase your automobile insurance, you can select some of the coverage limits and deductibles.

Most states require the purchase of at least a minimum amount of coverage for Third Party Liability. If you choose a higher coverage limit, you can expect to pay a correspondingly higher premium. If you select a lower deductible, you’ll also pay a higher premium. Why? Because in both examples, you’re asking the insurance company to assume more financial risk if you’re involved in an accident or claim. If you select a lower limit of coverage or a higher deductible, you can reduce your premium costs, but you also shift more of the financial burden of liability and repairs onto yourself.

You could decide not to purchase optional coverage, and this is one way to save on your insurance premium costs. For example, if you have an older automobile, you might want to consider not purchasing collision or comprehensive coverage if the automobile is not worth the additional premium cost.

Interestingly, most insurers have a slightly different take on all of this data, and this is what leads to the wide differences between quotes that one sometimes sees for essentially the same insurance.

What Are the Most Important Things to Look For in a Network Marketing Business?

My oldest son was born in 2000, and ever since then I have been looking for a career that allowed me to be available for him. My criteria are pretty specific. My husband is in the military and does not have the option to just call in sick if the kids are home from school and I have a business meeting to attend. And these days there is the distinct possibility of him being deployed for any length of time. So, I’m the parent who has to be available at the drop of hat (or the beep of a ear thermometer). Flexibility is a key ingredient to my ideal career. I do not want to have to rely on daycare providers being available for me to go to work. Secondly, because of my husband’s career, mine has to be portable. We pick up and move every three years, so I don’t want to worry about having to find something new at our next location. Lastly, I wanted an actual career, not a job. For me, this means money and recognition. I was looking for something that provided unlimited income potential (after all, if you’re talking about an ideal career you might as well shoot for the moon). I also wanted recognition for a job well done from the company. This could be in the form of promotions, bonuses, awards. (I’m not that picky)

It’s a tall order, but I’m nothing if not optimistic. My searching led me to the network marketing/direct sales industry. Direct Sales is a huge business, and there is always room for one more. After working with a couple different companies, reading a few books, talking to some experts in the field, earning a few awards, and making some money, I have learned there are some key things a direct sales business needs to offer to help you be successful in your business.

1. A Strong Product Line - And this needs to something you can be passionate about. The more passionate you are, the less you have to “sell” it. It is also important that there is a line of products. Once you have a customer, you want to be able to sell other products to them. And lastly, it is ideal that the products be consumable. Repeat customers are a wonderful thing.

2. A Lead Generation System - Many, many, many companies out there give you the same advice when you get started. Talk to your friends, family, neighbors and coworkers to get started. Unfortunately, if you’re comfortable talking about your business with them in the first place, you will still eventually run out of these people. Where do you go from there? Does the company have a lead system in place, or are you on your own for marketing?

3. Training - This one can actually piggyback off number 2. Does the company provide ongoing training? It is important to become a product knowledge expert when you are in sales. It is also necessary to learn how to build your business, so you don’t end up hitting that proverbial wall. But even more important is management training. One of the best ways to build your business is through bringing other people into the business. And once they are there, you want to have a strong team. If this doesn’t come naturally for you, does the company offering management or team training?

4. Multiple lines of Income - This is especially important to keep from burning out. It is also helpful if you find that you excel in one area over another. For instance, you are really good at selling the product but not at recruiting. Or you just gather people to you by breathing, and you’d rather concentrate on that than on selling the product. Can you still make a good income if you specialize?

In all my searching, I have found that these are key ingredients to help ensure my success. I have found that I am far more successful in my business when I have all the tools available to me in just one place, rather than having to go find them on my own. It has taken me some time to find exactly what I needed in a company, but persistence and planning definitely pay off.
