How HTML and Hex Colors Work
Posted on February 29, 2008
Working with Hexadecimal Colors
HTML use hexadecimal numbers to express RGB color values. Hexadecimal numbers are a base-16 numbering system, so the numbers run from 0 through 9 and then A through F. when compared to a standard base-10 numbering system, hexadecimal looks strange because it includes letters in the numbering scheme. Do not let hexadecimal numbers put you off. All you need is a cross-reference, or better yet, a Web page that lists all the colors. The principles of A Web site design Companion Web site has an online color chart you can use. Some HTML reference books have a printed color chart of hexadecimal colors, but in general, you always should use an online color resource for checking color values because you will get a much more realistic view of the actual color. Hexadecimal color values are six-digit number; the first two define the red value, the second two define the green, and the third two define the blue. You can use these values in a variety of elements with either the BGCOLOR attribute or the COLOR attribute to define color in your Web pages. Cascading Style Sheets also accept hexadecimal color values.
SETTING BACKGROUND PAGE COLOR
One of the simplest ways to work with hexadecimal color is to specify a background color for your pages. Use the BGCOLOR attribute in the element, or with Cascading Style Sheets, use the BACKGROUND-COLOR property with BODY as the selector.
USING BACKGROUND COLOR IN TABLES
You can use background color in tables for different purposes, all by using the BGCOLOR attribute. The table row, table header, and table data elements all accept the BGCOLOR attribute.
Creating Reverse Text
By using the BGCOLOR attribute to set background color, you can create reverse text in table cells. The first row in the table with the BGCOLOR attributes set to red, blue, and green, respectively each cell, and the text color set to white.

The Way to The Top 10 Fold is a Science
Posted on February 27, 2008
He Who Guarantees Top 10 Ranking Tells Dirty Lies
Search Engine Optimization is a fairly new science. Like most new sciences, while in it’s infancy
there is a lot of theories on how everything actually works. Some web masters have completely given up and swear there is no way to guarantee the actual results of the Search Engine Optimization of a particular website. What makes the science of SEO even more confusing is that all search engines do not use the exact same filters and factors in there search results. To a novice this would make you believe the only way to obtain a front page listing on any particular search would be to be extremely lucky. However such is not the case. A true webmaster would be able to examine the search results, look and see what websites are there and what they did to put them on the top and be able to come up with a successful strategy to either match or exceed them, or know if they are out of the optimist’s reach.
For a person to truly be telling you he is in fact a Search Engine Optimist and can do a professional job of optimizing a website he should know the mathematics of what it takes to gain a front page listing on any search engine. This is not rocket science. One is less then two and two is less then three, therefore three would rank highest, then two then one. If you wanted a top listing you should come up with the power ranking of at least three if that is the Ranking of the Webpage you want to be up with. A true SEO would also know the mathematics of what it takes to be even with the top sites and thereby give a person a reasonable expectation of if a top ten listing is likely.

Tips to Design a Website with a Good Look and Feel
Posted on February 24, 2008
When designing a web site, remember the destination is a computer, not the printed page, and the language is hypertext, not linear text. As a web page designer, you must create web pages specifically for the computer screen.
You must consider the layout, fonts, and colors and how they will appear. As an HTML author, you must consider the nonlinear nature of hypertext, and weave the appropriate links and associations in to the information.
Give users the options to follow the information path they desire by providing appropriate links to related topics. Make them feel comfortable at your site by letting themknow where they are where they can go.

What is your Unique Selling Proposition
Posted on February 20, 2008
A Different Angle
If you’ve tried every suggestion and tip there is online or offline for your brochure printing ad and postcards, but you still don’t have the results you want, why not try a different angle to your print ads? You might want to consider using USP to create a successful marketing campaign for your business.
What is a USP? USP is the abbreviated version for Unique Selling Proposition. It is what makes you different from all the rest. It’s the thing that separates your business from your competitors.
If you look at a directory, the first thing you will notice is that all the information for every service you might need describes the same things - similar designs, similar content. Not one ad will jump at you from the page you’re browsing. And why is that? It’s because each of the ads didn’t make a great job of showcasing the USP for each business.

Networking and Media Relations

What’s Our Job, Anyway?
Defining the job or typical workday for a public relations person in the good old days was pretty easy. We showed up in the morning, gathered a pile of lists and got on the phone. Later email came along and made our jobs easier but it was still pretty cut and dry - get the attention of journalists who can get attention for our clients.
These days you’d be forgiven if you can’t figure out exactly what it is we are all supposed to do. The days of hammering our message home to journalists and then to our clients’ customers is (of course) long over. And hopefully you realize that. So it’s worth taking a moment to figure out what is it exactly that we are now supposed to be doing.
